It starts with a C major triad, which is pushed up and down the white keys of the piano. His sound magically changes with each new position, together it all makes sense… wow! Meanwhile, Volker Giesek is a chord, melody and groove nerd. On a solidly trained jazz foundation, catchy pop melodies, rock, gospel, singer-songwriter, Brazilian music, soul and funk merge with ease into a remarkably versatile portfolio without blinders. He has released three albums with his German-Brazilian band Volker Gieseks Colorbox. After engagements at the Residenztheater and the Munich Kammerspiele, Volker Giesek was musical director at the ETA-Hoffmann-Theater in Bamberg for 10 years. He then set works of art and poems to music and composed a piano revue about mothers. He writes songs, sometimes poems, sings, produces and despairs sometimes. But never for long. Volker Giesek writes about his view on the musician's life on blogaroundsound.de. He led the theory courses at the Jazz Academy in Meran for 6 years and teaches at the New Jazz School in Munich and its BFS.
