Chris Cart3r is a Denver-based rapper, singer, and songwriter originally from Louisville, Kentucky. Growing up in a music-loving family with a gospel singer for a great-grandmother, Cart3r became a self-described “music nerd” at a young age, listening to everything from Nas and Kid Cudi to Radiohead and Nirvana. He first began writing songs as a teenager, inspired by the lyricism of Kanye West’s critically-acclaimed album 808s & Heartbreak. Cart3r released his first track on major music platforms in 2019, and once he relocated to Denver in early 2021, his music career skyrocketed. He quickly made a name for himself in the city by embracing every opportunity he could find to perform, doing about twenty live shows in his first year. After releasing what is perhaps his best-known track yet, “Makaveli,” featuring Houston-based artist GetItRogers, he continued his momentum with a four-track EP called Rtg. The following year, he released his second EP, Forever Lost, establishing an ongoing theme throughout his music of feeling adrift and displaced. Along with his singles and collaborative tracks, these projects showcase the wide range of sounds within Cart3r’s wheelhouse. Effortlessly switching between spitting tough bars and singing moodier melodies, his versatile sound can adapt to any beat. Cart3r is currently working on his third EP, due in October 2024.
