Caliente Corner

Bossing in the Rain

Sunday Market

Biography

Multi-instrumentalist and Latin-jazz star Alfredo Chacon presents a Brazilian-tinged package of light bossa nova and Afro-Cuban rhythms on the sensational "Bossing in the Rain", adding to his ever-growing list of music as a leader and sideman. A major voice in the Latin jazz genre, and fixture in the Miami jazz scene, Chacon honed his skills on the vibraphone and percussion by living and performing around the world. Having an affinity for the sounds of samba and bossa nova, it is no surprise that he would choose to feature the genre on one album. His previous album "Caliente Corner" is a wonderful sounding album featuring many Cuban traditional rhythms, masterly merged with the harmonies and approach of jazz. Brian Lynch, a well known and Grammy award-winning Latin jazz trumpet player is featured in two tracks of the album, that also features Latin Grammy nominee Ivan "Melon" Lewis on piano. His first album, MAGIC PLACE / SUNDAY MARKET, won a nomination to best jazz album at the Cubadisco Awards in 2013. In this album, his Cuban roots are mixed with influences from other genres like Funk, Bossa, Soul, and Bebop in a blend of beautiful melodies and groovy rhythms. The result is a fresh, colorful, joyous and elegant music full of surprises that will get the listener in a good mood.
