Biography

Cristobal Piña is a Chilean guitarist and composer, with an interest in jazz from a young age. In 2015 this interest took him to study Contemporary Music at the Universidad San Francisco de Quito (Berklee Global Network) in Quito, Ecuador, where he currently resides. Piña maintains an active career in both the Ecuadorian and Chilean scenes. In 2016, he released his first album “Discontinuo”, which was followed by “Para Días Nublados” (2019), where he had the opportunity to record with Rob Haight (tenor sax) and Gianni Bianchini (piano). As a composer Piña draws upon influences from rock, jazz, folk, pop and a mix of interesting rhythmic concepts, exploring odd meters and polyrhythms. Cristobal has played both as a leader and a collaborator in many countries and cities including Austin TX (US), Buenos Aires(ARG), Montevideo(URU), Santiago(CL), Concepción(CL), Quito(EC), Cuenca(EC), among others.
