Biography

Mark is a singer/songwriter from Smyrna, Georgia currently living in Charlotte, North Carolina. His songs and vocal styling have been compared to balladeers from the 1980's Pop scene including Rod Stewart, Phil Collins and Peter Gabriel. His musical focus is on inpiring his listeners to "Leave the Darkness" in their souls. Creative Loafing said of Mark, "No fancy tricks here. Lassiter's nicely written pop songs jump out of the boombox toned with guitars, piano touches and a tightly woven rhythm section. The North Carolinian writesacoustically-tinged songs the old-fashioned way – wrapped in melody, stuffed with rhythm and sung with sweet vocals and chorus." (Shukla) Mark recorded his first album, Leave the Darkness, with his producer Gabriel Nicholson. They have worked with artists around the world including Rami Jaffee of Foo Fighters, Ryan Hoyle former drummer of Collective Soul, Brad Smith of Blind Melon and Lee Sklar of Toto. Mark considers each song has having it's own "superband". His new album, Seedcore, features Ty Dennis from The Doors, Ryan Hoyle (Collective Soul), Gabriel Nicholson on Bass, Rami Jaffee from Foo Fighters on Hammond B3, Jeff Taylor (The Time Jumpers), Scotty Sanders (Jelly Roll, Luke Combs) and Matt Menefe (Mumford and Sons). Seedcore was inspired by 1980's Pop and features several of Lassiter's favorite covers. It is a largely acoustic project featuring thoughtful crisp production by producers Larry Marciano and Gabriel Nicholson.
