Axolotes Mexicanos is a band original from Asturias. Olaya and Stephen met in the school and decided to start a band. They completed their new group with Juan, Olaya’s twin brother. Today the group is based in Madrid and Lucas (Confeti de Odio) and Mario (Carolina Durante, Temerario Mario) joined to them. Their sound goes from crazy punk to the most playful, demo-friendly electro-pop with energy, muscle, strength and a lot of ferocity. As gleeful and childlike as the music seems, the lyrics are decidedly less than innocent, with subject matter including revenge fantasies, relationships with extraterrestrials, and bitter loneliness. The debut EP, Infectados was recorded and produced by Eva and Iván (Juniper Moon, Linda Guilala). It has a sound close to Alaska Y Los Pegamoides or Helen Love. Holi <3 shows clear tendencies toward the J-pop. Trececatorce is significantly more electronic: synthesizers taken from one of CAPSULE’s songs, harmonies and arpeggios that would make tofubeats’ heads explode. Salu2 is Capital letter POP: euro-pop, disco, pop-punk… A sound close to Shampoo or Phoenix. But no, there’s autotune and twisted frequencies, we can talk also about tofubeats and Kero Kero Bonito. Uwu, Cara De Idiota and Que Te Pires are advances of “:3”, the new album of the band that will be out in 2021. They show again the ability to make unquestionable hits, their sonic maturity, and their undeniable solidness.
