Biography

Middle Of The Road is a Scottish pop group who have enjoyed global success, particularly in the United Kingdom, Europe, Asia and Latin America, since the early 1970s. Before ABBA established themselves the band were the sound of early Euro-Pop with their distinctive harmonies and vocals. Four singles sold over one million copies and were certified gold: Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep, Sacramento, Tweedle Dee, Tweedle Dum and Soley Soley. By the mid 1970’s the group had sold over five million records and by the mid 1990’s over 30 million. Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep was a UK and global number one hit and is one of only 40 sound recordings in the history of recorded music to have sold in excess of 10 million physical copies. In 2016 Middle Of The Road’s founder guitarist Ian McCredie was recognised at the Scottish Music Awards with a Lifetime Achievement Award. In 2017 Middle of the Road released their first single of the new millennium; Soley Soley (Live in Berlin) recorded in front of 20,000 fans at the city’s famous Waldbuehne amphitheatre.
