Michel Banabila, born 1961, is a Dutch sound artist, composer and producer. Banabila releases music since 1983 and has produced musical scores for numerous films, documentaries, theatre plays and choreographies. His work varies from minimal loop-based electronica, fourth world, and neo-classical pieces, to drones, experimental electronica, ambient, and tape music. Banabila performed live mid 80's in Chi and early 90's in East Meets West. He released albums with Bahia El Idrissi, Machinefabriek, Oene van Geel, Cloud Ensemble, and Robin Rimbaud, among others. Banabila joined Holger Czukay's Linear City on '10 Steps To Heaven' in 2001 . In 2003 he received an Edison Award for his album VoizNoiz 3: Urban Jazz Scapes with Eric Vloeimans. In 2013 his track E.T. was featured in Rone 's Boarding Pass mix (TSUGI 66). Gaspar Claus recorded a cello version of the same track for his album Tancade. In 2017 Banabila & Maarten Vos toured the Netherlands with Home - Conny Janssen Danst, a critically acclaimed dance performance. In 2019 he self-released Uprooted, with Gareth Davis, Peter Hollo and others, and composed Dragonfly 2 for Yin Yue's choreography 'A Trace Of Inevitability' with Philadelphia Ballet. Furthermore Sonicontinuum released The Woods by Alex Haas & Michel Banabila featuring Bill Laswell. Banabila's work has been released internationally by labels like Bureau B (DE), Eilean Rec (FR), Knekelhuis Discography (NL), Pingipung Records selection (DE) & Séance Centre (CA)
