Harry Sasquatch began life in 2015 when the two musicians linked to write/record in NYC and discovered an unexpected creative synergy. To the collaboration, each artist brings a seemingly opposite aesthetic: Nakamura’s folk-inspired compositions and wordplay conjure up Elliott Smith and The Beatles; while CHOPS, hailing from the Asian American hip-hop group Mountain Brothers, produces beats for the industry’s heavyweights like Talib Kweli, Nicki Minaj and Kanye West. Together, their musical alchemy takes Harry Sasquatch to a genre previously uncharted as solo artists. Unlike many modern collaborators, the duo’s compositions all start from the same place - blank slates and open minds.
