Toiling away in a home studio located in Wilmington, Delaware, singer and songwriter Doug Cannon bounces between genres, most notably electronica, alternative rock, and folky, finger style guitar. Beginning as a collection of therapy sessions during the height of the pandemic, Pultixima’s sound can be best described as “beautifully imperfect” melancholy. Cannon describes himself as “primarily a songwriter”, and generally shys away from live performances due to longstanding social phobias and anxiety. Themes of isolation, self-reflection, meditation, and horror are prevalent throughout his work, but do not fully define the scope of his discography. You’ll see absurd and comedic detours in tone in such tracks as Driftoff!, as well as more unhinged vocal deliveries and lyricism carried forward in punk/metal group Driftnauts. Cannon was selected as an emerging artist within the Delaware Art Fellowship in 2024 for his compositions on the EP Diegetics I, combining ambient soundscapes with orchestral flair.
