Biography

One of the most innovative groups in the new wave of UK jazz, Nimbus Sextet are bringing their electrifying blend of jazz, world and dance music to top venues and festivals across the UK & Europe. Their two universally acclaimed albums - Dreams Fulfilled (2020) and Forward Thinker (2022) - were released on the legendary Acid Jazz label. Widely celebrated for their dynamite live shows, the band have performed at and sold out the UK & Europe's top jazz venues including New Morning in Paris, Ronnie Scott's and Pizza Express Jazz Club. In collaboration with Nuovi Fratelli, they released a new arrangement of the Roy Ayers Ubiquity classic 'Searching,' featuring alt-soul vocalists Russell Stewart and lissappear. The single was released in February to wide radio support including Gilles Peterson & Craig Charles, and topped the A List on Jazz FM’s playlist for three weeks. The core of the band's sound comes courtesy of bandleader & composer Joe Nichols (keys/harmonica). The lineup includes Euan Allardice (trumpet), Michael Butcher (saxophone), Samuel Parkinson (guitar), Stephen Jack (bass) and Jack O'Rourke (drums). They are noted for continuously expanding their musical horizons, bringing varied musical influences into their progressive sonic palette. Following a full 12-date UK tour last summer, Nimbus Sextet will perform music from their hotly anticipated third album throughout 2024, which is due for release later in the year and will take their evolving sound to new heights.
