IMPERIA is an atmospheric metal band known for Helena Iren Michaelsen's versatile voice, blending deep emotional expressions with operatic performances and grunts. The multinational lineup includes musicians from Norway, Finland, the Netherlands, and Belgium. The band's journey began with their first release, a cover of "Lotus Eaters" for a Dead Can Dance tribute album in the spring of 2004. That summer, IMPERIA performed their debut gigs and recorded their first album, "The Ancient Dance of Qetesh." In 2005, they embarked on a project called Angel, resulting in the album "A Woman’s Diary – Chapter I," released by Black Lotus Records. Their sophomore album, "Queen of Light," followed in early 2007. By the autumn of 2010, IMPERIA had begun recording their third album, "Secret Passion," which was released in 2011. In April 2015, the band returned to Spacelab Studio in Germany to record 13 tracks for their next album, "Tears of Silence," released later that year. In 2017, the band started working on new material, culminating in the release of "Flames of Eternity" in early 2018. In 2020, they recorded "The Last Horizon," a double album featuring the hit "Starlight," which amassed over a million streams and was released on March 26, 2021. Most recently, in 2023, IMPERIA recorded their latest album, "Dark Paradise." Mixed by Jacob Hansen, as were their previous three albums, the first single from this new release is titled "Better Place."
