Biography

Born on November 11, 1980, in Valasske Mezirici, Czech Republic (then Czechoslovakia), pop singer Helena Zetová got her start in the business in the late '90s upon joining a handful of rock bands -- one American -- that were based in Western Europe. After going back to the Czech Republic to work on a television show (Do-Re-Mi), Zetová decided to make her home nation her base of operations. In 2000, she joined forces with fellow pop songsters Tereza Cernochová and Tereza Kerndlova to form the girl group Black Milk. The group's debut was released in 2002, and it was a hit, but internal tensions pulled at the group, and by 2005 the trio had called it a day. In 2005, Zetová began working on her solo career. By October of that year, her debut full-length, Ready to Roll, was in shops, and Zetová was selling records and filling concert halls. During 2006, Zetová took on guest vocalist duties for the band No Name and their tour of that year. Her next record, Crossing Bridges, was also a big hit for the singer, peaking in 2008 at number five on the Czech album charts. ~ Chris True, Rovi
