Tjatjie (born October 25th,1990) is a singer/songwriter from Paramaribo, Suriname. Tjatjie used to be part of the musical duo The Mighty Youth and is best known for the songs “Mi Ati E Nak Gi Yu”, “Bomikie”, “KanKanMan & “Kon Go”. Born in Paramaribo, Suriname on the 25th of October 1990, Tjatjie attended the Renckewitz primary school and graduated from Mulo Geyersvlijt High school. During his high school years he developed a love for the dramatic arts and discovered his musical talent. Together with his younger brother and sister Tjatjie was raised by his single mother who passed away in 2011. They grew up in Geyersvlijt, a disadvantaged neighborhood in Paramaribo with little economical prospects, but despite the difficulties Tjatjie managed to support his family being the oldest sibling. Tjatjie officially started his musical career as leadsinger in 2009 by forming the Mighty Youth together with Finke. Soon the duo became very popular among the mainstream Surinamese audience and they produced many hit songs. In 2012 Tjatjie decided to go solo. Tjatjie's first solo hit song was “Kankanman” followed by “Kon Go”. After predominantly writing songs in Dutch and Sranangtongo Tjatjie decided to start writing songs in English to extend his audience and in 2015 he released his first international Reggae/Dancehall EP “The Other Side" followed by his debut album "Kon Go" a couple of months later, both of which are in stores. “KanKanManMusic” is a movement founded by Tjatjie.
