PER ARNE FRANTZEN studied at the Norwegian Academy of Music. He specialized in chamber music at the State University of Music and Drama in Stuttgart. In 1983, he was hired to teach at the Norwegian Academy of Music, where he is a tenured Associate Professor of accompaniment. Frantzen, one of the most sought-after chamber musicians in Norway, has given concerts in a number of European countries. He has often been a guest performer at the Quincena Musical Festival in San Sebastian, Spain, and at the Bergen International Festival, where he has concertized with some of Norway’s most eminent singers and instrumentalists. Frantzen has made a number of recordings for radio and television, including two television recordings with mezzosoprano Randi Stene. In 1988, Frantzen recorded a CD of Scandinavian romances with soprano Margit Mørkve. In 2000, he made a CD recording with saxophonist Geir Holm. In 2008, he recorded Cuando Acaba de Llover - Når Det Slutter Å Regne (“When the Rain Stops Falling") with soprano Itziar Martinez Galdos which offers a collection of Spanish and Latin American classical songs. In 2013, Frantzen recorded the album Colores with which he and the soprano Itziar Martinez Galdos wish to present the unknown side of Spain, enriched by three living minority languages: Galician, Basque, and Catalonian - both records recorded by LAWO Classics.
