Biography

Apostolos Sideris is a bassist and composer, who after a long stint in New York, has been currently based in Istanbul, Turkey. After having performed with a number of Jazz musicians such as guitarist Lionel Loueke, drummer Clarence Penn and pianist Leo Genovese as well as World Music artists such as Ara Dinkjian, Sanaa Moussa and Ziad Rahbani, has been recently focused on his own group after the release of 'Summation' in the fall of 2019 by FreshSound Records. On February 2nd of 2022 he released his second album, entitled 'Hane'. It is a rather eclectic work, showcasing Apostolos' affinity for Jazz as well as the sounds of North Africa and the Balkans. It features a number of great musicians coming from several musical worlds, adding up to a unique sound, which at times is rather cinematic. November 3, 2023 will mark the release of 'Past-Presented', a new album which will be out by up and coming French label Parallel Records. It features his usual group, this time with the addition of Turkish percussionist Şakir Ozan Uygan. It is a continuation of his first release, however with a heavier reliance on easter-type melodies and compositions.
