Biography

Chloe Clarke Smith (2003) is a composer-pianist from Baltimore, MD. Her music explores ethereal atmospheres with an emphasis on shaping a musical narrative by processing the expansiveness of human emotions. Currently pursuing her Bachelor’s in Composition at the Boston Conservatory of Music at Berklee, she has studied with Marti Epstein, Dan VanHassel, and Victoria Cheah. During her studies, Chloe has composed for a variety of new music ensembles including andPlay, Yarn/Wire, Quartet Iris, Splinter Reeds, The Relache Ensemble, Departure Duo, The Ringers, and Sound Icon. Her endeavors for the future include immersing herself in the study of ethnomusicology, exposing the music of BIPOC composers, and further experimenting with stretching the boundaries of consonance and dissonance in her own music.
