JËVA is a promise made by queer, Chinese-Australian musician, Jeffrey Liu, to never shy away from his own truth. Sonically descended from 2010s R&B, 2nd Generation K-Pop and Taylor Swift, his music is a space where he can openly and authentically heal from trauma. JËVA has seen multiple playlisting and radio support for his last EP ‘Typhoon’ and performed at a sold out Mardi Gras Fair Day. The first chapter of JËVA began with the acoustic ‘Saturday’ EP, a tribute to the blissful innocence he lived in before he faced what was truly haunting him. His coming out story, ‘Typhoon’, is a chronological tragedy which follows the unrequited love for an old friend and subsequent falling out, resulting in JËVA’s traumatic public outing. Accompanied by a sold out EP launch show at The Vanguard, Sydney, ‘Typhoon’ found huge success with ‘Good Friends’ featuring in TikTok’s Pop & Pride editorial playlist, ‘Typhoon’ receiving an endorsement from Tones & I and ‘Possibility’ receiving incredible airplay support on Triple J Unearthed. JËVA has since performed a headline slot at Mardi Gras Fair Day in 2022 and continues to be the representation he once wished he saw as a kid.
