The distinctive sound of The Eternal is a fusion of dark, melancholic, and emotive metal with influences from both Doom and Progressive genres. The most recent incarnation of the band includes Jan Rechberger (Amorphis) and Niclas Etelävuori (ex-Amorphis / Flat Earth) along with longtime members Mark Kelson & Richie Poate. The band recently wrapped up the recording of their upcoming album ‘Skinwalker’. Notably, The Eternal has evolved into a truly international collaboration, with half of the members being based in Melbourne, Australia, and the other half in Helsinki, Finland. The band’s seventh studio album ‘Skinwalker’, promises a continuation of their rich musical legacy & yet is set to be a defining moment creatively for the band. The album features several notable guest appearances including Tomi Joutsen (Amorphis), Santeri Kallio (Amorphis), Sami Yli-Sirniö (Kreator) & award winning Tuvan throat singer Albert Kuvezin (Yat-Kha) to name a few. To begin this exciting new chapter in the bands history, The Eternal recently signed a long term international deal with German label Reigning Phoenix Music (RPM), who have a roaster of outstanding internationally acclaimed artists. The new album ‘Skinwalker’ will be released through RPM in late June 2024.
