Sam Hoss (September 7, 1994) is an Iranian-Canadian hip hop artist. He was born in Tehran, Iran. At the young age of 10, his father made a decision that would change his life forever. His family immigrated into Canada, leaving behind a Muslim country and oppressive environment. His mother worked as a nurse and his father was an engineer. Growing up speaking Farsi, Hoss barely spoke a word of English. He had to overcome a language barrier, with the aid of ESL courses, while coping with a myriad of other social and economic changes. His cultural norms and social behavior had to diversify, while integrating with Canadian culture. Hoss turned to basketball and music to pass the time. He fell in love with hip hop after he moved to Canada, where he purchased his first CD, The Massacre by 50 Cent. This album has been playing a huge role in shaping the Kurdish-born rapper into the hip hop head he is today.
