ZeChari Ashonte Kelly, better known as Ziggy Zombie is a New Jersey native currently based in Brooklyn . He took on the name Ziggy Zombie to represent the death of his old self, who was limited by his way of living. Now in his “afterlife”, Ziggy Zombie tells the stories of his spiritual growth through his uncanny experiences. He is hard to categorize as artist due to his versatile style of writing and expression. At a young age, he was introduced to rap as “Rhythm And Poetry.” Taking an early liking to artist such as busta rhymes, dmx, and redman, Ziggy was inspired by the theatricality to their rap personas. His sound, aesthetic and references draw from a wide array of sources which he calls the “higher power”. With his music, he promotes higher consciousness and hopes to provoke deep introspection. In an interview, Ziggy Zombie was quoted saying he “he feels like an art baby of @Erykah Badu and Kendrick Lamar” which to fit the style, the message, and the aesthetic of the music he’s been creating for ten plus years.
