‘As Was’ is the musical alias of Kosta Stanisavljevic a Los Angeles native that grew up listening to just about every genre of music thanks to his Eastern European/Serbian father who would play a wide horizon of artists/bands on the radio/cassettes. This may be one of the reasons as to why it is so difficult to categorize his style and expression. For a large period of time during the infancy stages of ‘As Was’ Kosta would take months off at a time from listening to music, as he felt that the influence other art had on his was insincere and lacked authenticity as many Pop songs that are produced and regurgitated for the top 100 billboards. At least that was his belief at the time, and why he sought out to truly find himself within the music. As time has gone by, and he grounds himself deeper into what he considers his ‘sound’, he finds himself less and less strict when it comes to drawing inspiration from other creation/creators. When you listen to ‘As Was’ you’ll find a separation, but in that separation there are hints of something so true to the human collective, it’s hard to not feel it. Kosta’s latest release is his sophomore album titled ‘Open Container’. He plans to play shows and release new music consistently throughout 2024.
