Biography

Georgian musician Gacha Bakradze first surfaced in 2012 on R&S Records sublabel Apollo with "Remember," a Michael Jackson-sampling downtempo cut with smooth, atmospheric guitar. B-side "Bowl," however, was uptempo, shuffling future garage in the vein of Pariah or George FitzGerald. Gacha's next two releases, on smaller labels Teal Recordings and 2nd Drop Records, were credited to just his surname, Bakradze, and ranged from broken beat to tech-house tracks. Gacha returned to Apollo in early 2014 with the release of the EP When the Watchman Saw the Light, which ranged from spacious downtempo tracks (featuring guest vocals by Natalie Beridze/TBA) to rolling, bass-heavy dance tracks. By the end of 2014, Gacha had released another EP as Bakradze, and contributed tracks to John Beltran's ambient compilation Music for Machines (one credited to his full name and another under the pseudonym Winter Flags). In early 2015, Gacha announced his debut album for Apollo, Send Two Sunsets, which also featured guest vocals from Natalie Beridze. He continued releasing EPs on labels such as Transfigured Time and Best Works Records, generally credited to his full name. He returned to Apollo in 2017 with an EP titled We Must Be Woods. ~ Paul Simpson, Rovi
