Biography

Tunico sings songs that tell us ancients stories, establishing himself as grateful revelation of contemporary samba, combining his livingness to experiences connected to sense of belonging and his cultural universe. He portrays through his concert the places that originated Rio's samba, terreiros (meeting places of african-brazilian religions) and samba circles. Sings the culture of african source, which highlights the influence of sacredness in samba, in brazilian music, in Martinho da Vila's legacy and his descendants. Tunico presents multiple types of samba, among them: samba de roda, partido-alto, terreiro, afro sambas, beyond Caribbean and Angolan rhythms such as semba. Through ties of effectiveness, he talks to the public through his compositions about bantu origin, irreverence of partido alto, black people routine, racial freedom and sensuality.
