Biography

Lawrence Leon, singer/songwriter, rapper and Tulsa native, creates music for life’s wanderers. His sound gracefully marries the essence of multiple genres, including that of Hip-Hop, R&B, Neo-Soul and Folk, as if to mimic his personal philosophy. Never believing that he ever truly belonged to any group of people or any genre, he allowed himself to be open to a variety of influences and perspectives. Leon’s lyrics sound as if they’ve been pulled from the pages of a poetic journal and coupled with smooth and precise vocal performances as he takes us along with him on his journey through life. He connects with his listeners by focusing on common human themes, but with a fresh and unique perspective. With musical influences that include the likes of Musiq Soulchild, Tech N9ne, Frank Ocean, Lil Wayne, Kid Cudi, Mumford & Sons, and Antônio Carlos Jobim he has acquired a balanced sense of imagery and vulnerable songwriting. Lawrence is also one of the artists in Fire In Little Africa (Motown Records / Black Forum Records); a multimedia hip-hop project commemorating the 1921 Massacre of Tulsa’s Greenwood neighborhood known as ‘Black Wall Street’.
