An active concert pianist and respected music educator, Antonio Pompa-Baldi has balanced his career between touring internationally and teaching at the Cleveland Institute of Music. A native of Foggia, Pompa-Baldi has long maintained a connection to Italy as the founder of the summer music camp, Todi International Music Masters, and through recording Italian music, such as his 2018 disc on Steinway & Sons, Napoli. Yet Pompa-Baldi began his career on the international stage, winning prizes at the 1998 Marguerite Long-Jacques Thibaud Competition in Paris, the 1999 Cleveland International Piano Competition, and the 2001 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition. He has appeared with major orchestras on five continents, notably performing Rachmaninov's complete piano concertos and the Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini with the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra. He has also given master classes as an honorary guest professor at the China Conservatory of Music in Beijing. As a recording artist, Pompa-Baldi has released the complete piano works of Grieg, as well as CDs of Hummel, Schumann, Brahms, and Rheinberger on Centaur, and The Rascal and the Sparrow, an album of piano arrangements of songs by Francis Poulenc and Édith Piaf for Steinway & Sons.
