Ibrahim Aziz is a classical musician specialising in the performance of baroque, renaissance and contemporary music for the viola da gamba. His début solo CD, Risonanze, on First Hand Records (FHR 83), features old and new music for the instrument and has received favourable reviews from both mainstream and specialist critics. His new album, featuring the works of GF Handel with harpsichordist Masumi Yamamoto was recently released in Spring 2020 (FHR 91). Future recording projects include his own arrangements of the complete JS Bach Cello Suites for gamba for FHR and the complete Purcell Fantazias with Chelys Consort of Viols on BIS, due to be released in 2021. He is featured on over a dozen other recordings including on Delphian, Signum, Deux-Elles and Resonus Classics.
