Leah Rye learned how to play piano at a young age. Aged fifteen, she started writing her own songs, both as an emotional outlet and as a way of compartmentalizing the world around her. Contrasts are a common theme in her music; light and dark, alone and together are two key themes. The complexity of interpersonal relationships also runs through her music. Leah Rye draws her inspiration from all sorts of artists, among them Radiohead, Bon Iver and Lana Del Rey. Her dreamy sound lands somewhere between pop noir and electronica.
