Biography

Emboldened by the critical acclaim of the album Olivier Rocabois Goes Too Far, Rocabois headed back to his home studio last winter to record what would become his new EP The Pleasure Is Goldmine. A collection of picturesque songs with undercurrents of mental illness that evoke unrequited love within the family circle, egocentric paranoiac prima donnas, domestic bliss and spiritual crisis. "They were mainly composed at the piano whilst gazing through the window of my music room and being absorbed by the beauty of what I saw. The funniest part during the sessions was to try and gather elements from the raw home demos and takes recorded in a state-of-the-art studio near Paris. That’s what progressive pop is all about: life’s a gamble, life is a joke, life’s a party!" When The Zombies collide with Epic Soundtracks! It feels like the pre-Ziggy Bowie got lost in the Surf’s Up storms and eventually rescued by Abbey Road-era Fabs in a cave filled with heavenly melodies. If ever you need one last fix of reassurance before diving into the unknown, these 23 minutes of slightly psychedelic chamber pop are the best medicine you could imagine. The Pleasure Is Goldmine EP is out now! Off we go!
