James Bishop spent five months hiking through the California backcountry in 2017, amassing a cache of field recordings along the way. Over the next five years, he turned these samples into songs, working in an abandoned schoolhouse modular on a farm commune outside San Francisco. This collection of songs became Bishop's first album, BODYBOUND. There are no studio instruments on the record. On BODYBOUND, thunderstorms became synthesizers, rustling pinecones became drums, and an orchestra emerged from a chorus of creaking iron gates. ✮ Follow @jamesbishop.wav ✮ ✮ Listen to NPR Feature - https://www.npr.org/2024/04/01/1242104138/this-artist-weaves-the-natural-sounds-from-a-1-300-mile-hike-into-music ✮ ✮ Merch - https://jamesbishop.bandcamp.com/merch ✮
