Carmelo Venuto is a guitarist and double bass player, born in Catania. In 2012 Carmelo won the national prize Chicco Bettinardi with the Line Out Quartet (Alessandro Presti, Roberto Brusca, Emanuele Primavera). Since 2012 he has been part of the Raffaele Genovese Trio, with which in 2014 he recorded the album Musaico, starring Ben Van Gelder as special guest. Carmelo performed in quartet with Johel Frahm, Lage Lund and Marcello Pellitteri at Reggio in Jazz '12. Also in 2012 he played double bass with the Steve Grossman quartet for a series of concerts in Southern Italy. In 2013 he played in Anthony Strong's Italian tour. Since 2014 he has been playing with the Emanuele Primavera quintet, with whom he recorded the albums ‘Replace’ and ‘Above the Below’, together with Alessandro Lanzoni, Alessandro Presti, Nicola Caminiti, Seby Burgio, Fabrizio Brusca. In 2019 he played on ‘Lunar’ - Fabrizio Brusca Quartet. In 2021 he played on ‘Espresso Roma Catania’ - Cristiano Giardini. He plays in the band Angologiro.
