Dark Globe gained prominence after being signed by Leftfield to their Hard Hands label. They've since released their distinctive digital funk with Meat Katie on W9Y, Global Underground, and Universal/Island Records, following the success of their hit "Break My World." Known for their breakbeat funk, Dark Globe's music has featured in "Lara Croft: The Cradle of Life," and they've remixed tracks for artists like George Clinton, Bush, Orbital, Amanda Ghost, Imogen Heap, Two Lone Swordsmen, and Boy George. They also created the first-ever breakbeat record, "Mondo Scuro." Musically, Frost and Diggens had both been inspired by the DIY spirit of the acid house scene. They were passionate not only about the sounds of Chuck D and Flav’s Bomb Squad, but about the beauty of David Sylvian’s solo albums, Basic Channel’s ghost note groove, Stakker Humanoid’s raw excitement, Dead can dance’s otherworldliness and the ‘music concrete’ of swiss sample punks the Young Gods. They would spend the week, gathering ideas, then load up their samplers and get on the bus to the studio on a Friday evening with the aim of emerging on Sunday morning with a 9 minute masterpiece burned onto cassette. Frost and Diggens released a stream of vinyl from 1993-1996 on own imprint Violent Drum and finished when Matt and Pete were discovered by Andrew Weatherall at Sabresonic which led them to sign to Leftfield’s Hard Hands label in 1997 as Dark Globe.
