Femke Steketee (1989) has graduated cum laude at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague (Bachelor) as a student of Frank Timpe and Leo van Oostrom, and the Conservatory of Amsterdam (Master) as a student of Arno Bornkamp. Femke plays regularly with several symphony orchestras among others The Hague Philharmonic, Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra Amsterdam, The Netherlands Radio Philharmonic Orchestra and the North Netherlands Symphony Orchestra. She performs as a soloist at a numerous ensembles with pieces such as Concertino Da Camera by Jacques Ibert, Concerto for alto saxophone and string orchestra by Aleksandr Glazoenov and various newly written pieces for saxophone and (string) orchestra. Femke plays the alto saxophone in Syrène Saxophone Quartet. The quartet released two albums: Haydn / Samama / Gershwin: Fresh, Sweet & Sturdy and Händel: Water Works. Since 2014 Femke Steketee and pianist Tobias Borsboom perform as a chamber music duo on the main stages of Holland. They released their album 'La fille et le saxophone' in April 2020.
