Anita BeSong, a vocal artist, songwriter & musician; after graduating from the Alabama School of Fine Arts, her professional career advanced in the 1980’s, when she joined Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis' band, Flyte Tyme, as a vocalist and flautist. Brian McKnight, along with Claude McKnight & Joel Kibble of the Grammy winning A Capella group Take 6, performed background vocals on BeSong’s earlier album You Are My Joy (as Anita Spratt-Smith). She also made her presence in musical theater productions, working alongside composer, Consuela Lee (aunt of filmmakers Spike & Malcolm Lee), directors Claude Purdy & Tonea Stewart and actors Nick LaTour & Abdul Salaam El Razzac. Anita BeSong naturally expresses a musical style all her own, which got the attention of International Bassist & Jazz Legend, Cleveland Eaton. Anita's vocals can be heard on his 1980 single "I'm Lonely Tonight". Cleve was gracious to feature his talents on two songs on Anita’s album project, along with Byron Thomas and Grammy winning producer, Phil Davis, who both beautifully produced & arranged songs from this much anticipated album Songs In The Key of Love.
