Rasheed Jamal Washington, is an American rapper, songwriter, podcaster, and author better known by his stage name — Rasheed Jamal. Through producing a prolific stream of musical output, his aim is to be FREE in through his creative endeavors, and to raise the level of expectation for himself and others. Touching on various genres and at going in on subject matter that many shy away from, the seasoned lyricist tends to push boundaries while normalizing the idea that a regular guy can be compassionate, spiritual, raw, real, harsh, thoughtful and thought provoking while also at time being reckless and unapologetic in his expression. Not one to mince words, Rasheed believes in being true to himself while also transcending the borders that have marginalized where Black American Culture meets intellectualism, art, and commerce. Music critics have drawn stylistic comparisons to Kendrick Lamar, Outkast, A Tribe Called Quest, Pusha T, and Mos Def (Yasiin Bey). Jamal credits these artists as well as Carlos Santana, D'Angelo, MF DOOM, Black Thought, Lil Wayne, Royce Da 5'9", Nas, and Jay-Z in the mix among an ecclectic range of genres, styles, and sounds to draw inspiration for his bed of music.
