Bottum the Dreamer is more than a rapper; he is a poet, illustrator, model and actor. He is your definition of an all-around artist. Hailing from Ruston, Louisiana, Bottum’s interest in music was little throughout his teenage years. With a enormous liking to basketball, he did not take music seriously until his junior year in college. At this time, his support team was minimal, and he questioned pursuing music. After college, he relocated to the Bay Area where his father been living since his parents’ divorce at the age of 7. He gradually performed in open mics and began modeling at these same open mics after a massive event that included fashion designers and art exhibitions. Bottum was advised to include spoken word in his songs by females after performing for poetry nights. He decided to keep a harsher subject matter over soft instrumentals. His take on his early life was straining because he felt family and friends kept him in a box and only saw him as this academically gifted child that should not do anything that wasn’t school related, and he was always tempted to sell drugs like ecstasy or Xanax to feed him through college. He was always surrounded around drug dealers; thus he speaks on this affiliation and maintains a softer side with his love for women. With the balance, he creates smooth trap music, and strong content over soothing beats which he calls “trap poetry.”
