Biography

Judith Ingolfsson, a renowned violinist and violist, is lauded for her commanding performances and musical maturity. She is a sought-after concerto soloist, chamber musician, and co-founder of Duo Ingolfsson-Stoupel with pianist Vladimir Stoupel. Ingolfsson's playing has been praised for its versatility and purity across all registers. She gained international recognition after winning prestigious competitions including the Premio Paganini in Genoa and the Concert Artist Guild Competition in New York City. Her Gold Medal win at the 1998 International Violin Competition of Indianapolis solidified her status as a globally renowned artist. Ingolfsson has graced stages worldwide, collaborating with esteemed ensembles including The Philadelphia Orchestra and the Iceland Symphony Orchestra. Her recitals have graced renowned venues such as Carnegie Hall and the National Gallery of Art. As a chamber musician, she has collaborated with renowned ensembles and performed at esteemed festivals globally. With 13 CDs to her name, Ingolfsson's recordings have garnered critical acclaim and awards. She plays a Lorenzo Guadagnini violin from 1750 and a viola by Yair Hod Fainas, as well as baroque bow crafted by Bastian Muthesius. Currently a Professor at Baltimore’s Peabody Institute, she co-directs festivals in France and Germany.
