Biography

Negtetanana-a, which translates to pineapple head, is hard to miss with his signature look of dreadlocks he keeps piled on top of his head. First born to a pious Haitian family, Hudson Casseus grew up influenced by the music he heard in the churches and streets of his birthplace Port-au-Prince. After moving to the US in 2010, he began working on music with friends and playing the Caribbean club scene as a drummer in West Palm Beach. Ever driven by his rebellious nature and need to express himself creatively, he decided to pursue solo music in 2017, releasing his first single “Épi Dan” which was produced by his brother and long-time collaborator Rayhans. Although a product of the current music landscape, he never strays from his roots, with music that connects elements of bullish trap music with the buoyancy of Haitian konpa and Afro-beats. Despite the mix, Negtetanana-a has an ambitious sound that can be summed up by his words “Rèv ap ap rete rèv lew domi bonè leve ta” which means your dreams will remain dreams if you sleep early and wake up late. With a clear message that connects Haitians back to “lakay” which means home.
