Biography

The Black and White Cafe Collective are named as a tribute to the cafe in the St Pauls area of Bristol and its owner, Bertram Wilks. The band decided that they wanted to also use the name as a symbol of unity.
Heavily influenced by primarily Dub, Roots, 2Tone and Reggae, The BWCC (as they are also known as) draw on the spectrum of world music and enjoy exploring the possibilities that such a spectrum offers.
The BWCC influences are reflected in the playlists included on their profile, and include Mad Professor, The Clash, The Specials, Dreadzone, Massive Attack and Navigator. Collectively, they cite Exodus, Second Light, The Specials, Blue Lines, and Leftism as significantly influential albums.
