Like many before him, progressive soul artist Guto D'Harculete (born as Augusto Delfim A J Harculete) has had a life of twists and turns before arriving at this point in his career. Born in 1988 in the province of Nampula in Mozambique. One of eight children Guto was surrounded by music from a young age his father being an avid collector of vinyl and cassettes A childhood singing performance on public TV sparked something but it wasn’t until 2005 that Guto began dedicating his life to making music. Inspired by the popular Pandza sound (a digital midtempo version of local Marrabenta mixed with dancehall and hip hop), Guto and his friend C. Duarte recorded a song “Dama Magrinha” that secured them an invitation to open a show for the kings of Pandza, Ziqo and Denny OG. His first EP, “Íntimo e Personal” was released in 2013 but it wasn’t ‘til May 2019, he finally returned to the studio. The first song was the beautifully produced “Guta” and with it the decision to call his new project “Guta” after the birth of his daughter in 2018. During the Covid lockdown he released three videos including the song “Guta”, and from 2021 began collaborating with a number of artists leading to the completion of his stunning new album which features the production work of Origimoz, Lams, Twin C, Master Uvas, Vee, and the participation of artists such as Azagaia, Iveth, Isabel Novela, Vannize and Ivandro Sigaval. Now living in Ivory Coast
