Damion’s love for music started while attending Happy grove high school in Portland where he can rememberer beating the desk and spitting lyrics with popular dancehall artiste Popcaan. Damion left Jamaica and finished school in the states but could not give up on his dreams to be an international dancehall artiste following the footsteps of his inspirations International artistes Marley family and their impact on a global scale, Shaggy, Sean Paul, dancehall’s Gongalee Louie Culture who hails from the same parish as Damion Hype. Damion also reminisced on his dads influence as he can remember going to watch his dad perform at hotels in Jamaica with a band just the outpouring love from the guests inspired him to become a musician. In 2016 he recorded his first song dubbed “Gone” featuring Twaine Henry which was recorded three years ago in his home parish Portland. The collaboration got some traction on YouTube and Damion friends and family encouraged him to record more music. Hype flew back to Jamaica and recorded his second single at the same studio as his first, and ran into one of his inspirations Louie Culture, who told him that “you have a unique voice, this is what the business needs, take your career serious continue recording and pursue your dreams” The creative lyricist Damion Hype now boasts six official releases
