5VOLTS is an all-girl band from the Philippines. The current members of the group are Karen Silva (lead vocals), Melanie Opeña (acoustic & 2nd vocals), Maricar Andaya (bass guitar), MJ Litorja (lead guitar), and Law Tanatan (drummer & producer). They released 'Panaginip' on the Belltower Project Uno album in 2013. This is the first compilation album featuring pioneering homegrown recording bands of Dumaguete City. Their second song, 'Kapit Kamay', was released in 2019, accompanied by a music video focusing on women empowerment directed by Paul Benzi. They also recorded live performances of 'Panaginip' and 'YOLO' (unreleased) the same year with Under the Mango Tree productions. In 2020, the girl group also posted cover songs on YouTube, which collectively garnered up to 20,000 streams during the pandemic. After years of hiatus, 5VOLTS released a comeback single titled 'Makita Kang Muli,' accompanied by an independently produced music video by Law and MJ. The song revolves around themes of love, longing, and grief. In the coming months, they're planning to release a collection of unreleased tracks they've been working on for years. These songs feature collaborations with talented artists and session musicians from across the Philippines.
