Biography

James Irving Hudson Jr. (b. October 12, 1997), better known by his stage name MAJ (formerly SEMAJ), is a musician coming out of Pine Bluff, Arkansas. He’s currently living in Dallas, Texas, and is tempering with grunge-inflected production, soulful delivery, and nocturnal hip-hop with stark vulnerability and confessional storytelling. 
 MAJ has been noticed by some big industry names, such as Eminem and Paul Rosenberg, and was featured on Eminem’s track, These Demons (feat. MAJ) then later signing him to Def Jam Recordings. He’s also been noticed by 6ix9ine, who even took one of his lyrics in his hit song, “KOODA.” 
 in 2016 James released his first project, The Beta EP. Almost 2 years later on April 16, 2018, he released his first project under the “MAJ” stage name titled No One Cares. 
 On January 18, 2020, MAJ announced through a now-deleted Instagram post that he got signed to the major record label, Def Jam Recordings / Electric Feel almost 2 months later on March 13, 2020, MAJ released his debut studio EP, Majestic and then ended up leaving and became an independent artist again in 2021 first releasing a throwaway mixtape titled d evil. 
 He also started to become more consistent as a YouTuber after an almost three year break, uploading content talking about his life and reactions to his past work.
