Biography

Karin Stigmark or Karine (in France) is a Swedish singer, lyricist and songwriter. She made her first recordings in 1964 with The Dick Major Singers (A Swedish-American Christmas) In 1965 she was discovered by Alain Boublil & Christian Fechner. In France she released several EP:s and singles, performed at Olympia and appeared at several music festivals. After returning to Sweden in the late 60s she was part of the vocal ensemble in Spader, Madame! by Hasse & Tage. She began her collaboration with Swedish top producer Anders "Henkan" Henriksson (Midnight Sun Electric Orchestra/Container). Together they released music with Karin as solo artist and started "Multimusik record company". They made albums including Sommarfilosoferna, Svenne & Lotta, Ablution and Baltik where she sings Ocean Blue (feat. Tomas Ledin), Janne Lucas, Yellow Pages Geordie, Peter Lundblad, Karin Stigmark med kompisar and more. Karin started the quartet Ajax, consisting of Karin, Beverly Glenn, Peter Lundblad & Göran Wiklund. They were the Swedish Eurovision Song Contest choir in 1974 and the first to sing Waterloo in public - before ABBA (Waterloo - English version). Karin sang backing vocals on many recordings as part of "Superbirds" (Beverly Glenn&Lotta Hedlund) from 1971-2001. Their last recording was Cry No More Tears As a composer and lyricist she’s had more than 50 songs recorded by various artists: Åh Evergreens, Please tell me, Jag vill hem till julen (With Bells On), Säg kan du tro på mig.
