Love, travel, friendship, mountains and music. Since 2009, the obscure, outdoorsy outfit Pravda (“The Truth”) has been the creative outlet and meandering passion project of persevering songwriter/producer John Bartmann. In addition to writing a wide range of original songs, Pravda produces their own music independently. Recording takes place in suburban garages, living rooms and broom closets lined with cheap insulating foam and spare blankets. On weekends, instruments and tog bags of cables travel from place to place to accommodate session recordings. The message? Do what you’re here to do. The result? A hard-won musical output unrestricted by genre that’s at once unique but familiar, imaginative but real. Ultimately, Pravda represents something we all feel deeply – a quest to find the people that matter. And to thank them – to thank you – for believing in something.
