Jim Gelcer is a songwriter, producer, film composer, and educator. He is at home in an eclectic range of genres, from jazz and rock to klezmer and kirtan, and an accomplished composer with numerous credits in television and film. He is known in the world yoga community for his meditative mantra music recordings. Jim is known for his album "Bhagavan”, as well as collaborations with Ben Leinbach on "Bhakti Groove Machine", with Dave Stringer, Benjy Wertheimer, John De Kadt, and DJ Taz Rashid on "Cape Town to Kolkata", with DTO and Brenda McMorrow on "Reconcile", and on several singles with Hans Christian, including "Warrior Spirit", "Resistance", and “As Things Unfold.” He is also known for his jazz recordings with Paul Hoffert, Reg Schwager, and George Koller -"How High the Bird", "Melodies Pure and True", and "Jim and Paul Play Glenn and Ludwig." Primarily a drummer, early in his career Jim recorded and toured on keys with rocker Lee Aaron. An accomplished film composer, he has collaborated with Donald Quan on several film scores, and they also toured and recorded an album together, "Going OM" Jim has cowritten songs with Jon Mullane, Anjelica, and Don Breithaupt, among others.
