It all started with a post on Need Vocals SubReddit page, “Looking for vocalist for a psychedelic electro-pop track”, to which Stephen Macina, the Canadian producer behind SMTC, received several interested singers, but really only one stood out - Melis Ozsoy from Istanbul, Turkey. 
 That began an online chat between the two that eventually led to an entire album being created within a few months during the Covid lockdown. Melis, a self-trained jazz singer who has been involved in the music scene since the age of 15, has performed in many venues around the Istanbul area . Her vocals meshed flawlessly with the distorted bass-driven alternative pop tracks Stephen had been producing in his girlfriend’s flat in Cologne, Germany. Stephen, a drummer and casual guitarist, got into producing electronic more as a by-product of Melis’ willingness to sing on his music than anything else. Once the ball got rolling, the ideas kept flowing, and the two continue to make their genre-bending blend of pop, dance, funk, trip hop and electronic.
