Biography

Called the "Yo-Yo Ma of the harp," [Vogue Magazine] Bridget Kibbey lends her singular virtuosity and verve to the concert harp, expanding its expressive range and scope on stage. Defying genre, Kibbey dives deep into historic narratives — synthesizing them as a soloist or alongside today’s most compelling musicians and composers, while resonating within the vanguard of the new. According to the New York Times, “…she made it seems as though her instrument had been waiting all its life to explode with the gorgeous colors and energetic figures she was getting from it.” Well-loved on air and on stage, Kibbey made her NPR Tiny Desk debut, performs solo Bach to French masterworks, to MC'ing and performing concert events that excavate global music narratives and migration stories alongside the best proponents of each. Through it all, she welcomes audiences in, while expanding the scope and expressive range of the harp.
