Giannis Poulios is a violin virtuoso, born in 1994 and raised in Greece. He specializes in various traditional genres of Greece and eastern Mediterranean. He has studied music and violin since the age of ten, he is a music high-school graduate and he has a degree in ethnomusicology and folk violin from the Technological Educational Institute of Epirus. He has been active as a professional violinist for over twelve years in Greece and abroad, performing both on stage and in studio recordings. He has worked extensively all over Greece and has developed a deep knowledge of various different styles within the local greek regions, as well as a very wide repertoire in traditional music. Furthermore, he has collaborated with many contemporary artists from all over the world, experimenting with genres that go beyond the Greek and Mediterranean borders. He has developed a characteristic and recognizable sound as a performer and this, in combination with his extensive improvisational skills, has given him the privilege to collaborate with some of the most important artists of the Greek music scene.
