Bristol-based Vexxy is carving a new space for his grime and wave flavoured cuts, using his unquestionable ability to create vivid productions that emerge from the backdrop of underground UK music. Exploring subtle influences of RnB and UKG through shifted vocal samples, soaring synths and sharp, staggering rhythms, Vexxy offers a powerful contrast to the expected constants of grime, breathing new life and a fresh direction into the rhythm and grime style that has branched out from the main genre. Vexxy linked up with independent label Italdred for the release of ‘Can’t You See’ and featured on their Inflorescence compilation, as well as contributing a track to SYNES’s debut compilation SYNES PATCH 1. For both, Vexxy supplied his trademark experimentation, using hazy synths and bright chimes that seep over low rumbling basslines, driven by relentless snapping percussion. He has also released music on Plasma Abuse and on Terrorhythm. Championing and developing this section of the UK music ecosystem, Vexxy has received attention from a wide variety of sources, including legendary grime don and wave originator Plastician and online music publication Dummy Mag. Additionally, Vexxy co-runs record label ESC_, pushing and supporting the grime-wave sounds of growing creators in the scene.
